Binoculars are a vital piece of equipment that can enhance daily activities such as hunting, birding, hiking, and sporting events. Primarily binoculars take a distant image, enlarges it through a series of lenses for viewing; while remaining small and light enough to be mobile. Within this article, the series of lenses in a pair of binoculars will be examined while explaining how they work to produce a magnified image.

Binoculars for the most part are built fairly straight-forward and simple. There are the lenses at the end of the optical tube called the objective lens. The objective lens which is measured in millimeters, gathers light and focuses the light on the ocular lens. The ocular lens is the small lens in the eyepiece. Binoculars are really two small scopes mounted side-by-side so the user can view the desired image with both eyes instead of just one eye.

When inspecting a pair of binoculars, there are two numbers the individual will notice which are expressed as 10×42mm or something similar. These numbers describe the binoculars capabilities. For example, the first number (10) in 10×42 is the magnification, this will magnify the image ten times the images normal size. Note: in most cases, the stronger the magnification, the smaller the field of view will be. The second number (42) in 10×42 in the aperture. The aperture is the size of the binoculars objective lens. The aperture is measured in millimeters, the larger the aperture, the more light is gathered. The smaller the aperture, the less light is gathered. Further more, the two numbers can also express the exit pupil.

The exit pupil is the amount of light rays that enter the objective lens and exits the ocular lens. The measurement of the exit pupil is achieved by dividing the aperture lens size by the magnification size. For example, the Nikon 10×42 Monarch Binocular, the exit pupil would be found by dividing the aperture (42) by the magnification (10), equaling 4.2 exit pupil. A higher exit pupil means the binoculars will work efficiently in dim light. For well-lit surroundings, an exit pupil of 2.5 to 4 is sufficient. If the individual holds a pair of binoculars at arms length, they will be able to clearly see the circle of light in the eyepiece, representing the exit pupil. In-between the aperture lens and the objective lens is the prism.

There are two types of prisms in common use, porro-prism and roof-prism. The porro-prism binoculars can be identified by their offset tubes; the objective lenses are not lined up with the ocular lenses, the ocular lenses are usually closer together than the objective lenses, but the opposite can also be true, particularly in compact models. The porro-prism binoculars are usually optically superior to the roof-prism binoculars, especially in medium priced class binoculars. Porro-prism binoculars have a single pivot between the two halves of the binoculars, therefore easier to adjust for the inter-pupillary (distance between the eyes).

Roof-prisms are basically in-line inside the optical tube, this makes for a more compact set of binoculars. Roof-prism binoculars have straight tubes (the objective lens is in-line with the ocular lens) which makes them more compact. The roof-prism binoculars usually have two pivot points between the tubes and are a little more difficult to adjust for the inter-pupillary (distance between the eyes).

The components of binoculars, such as the optics have changed over the years, but the basic construction of binoculars and how they work has remained unchanged. All binoculars still have three major components. The objective lens which collects light and focuses that light in the users eyes. A set of prisms which invert the image, turning the image right-side up, and the ocular lens that magnifies the image. With this information on individual will have the basic knowledge on how binoculars work and will more easily decide on what type of binocular is right for him or her.

Many people love to ride their bikes around for exercise and to save the environment by decreasing pollution, but one thing that everyone has to consider is the high level of theft. The high quality bikes that are produced today have caused more cases of theft than ever before and if you want to keep your bike safe you must keep it under lock and key and the best type of bike lock is the Bike U Lock.

The Bike U Lock comes in different degrees of security. There are bike locks for minimum to ultimate security. These locks would serve people in low crime areas to high crime areas. A basic U Lock comes with steel shackles, disc cylinders, strong locking mechanism, dust covers, keys, and they are usually able to fit comfortably under any bike. The cost of a bike lock can range from $20 to $150 depending on the level of security.

The Bike U Lock helps to reduce theft and it offers security and safety to the rider. The minimum security bike lock is used for well lit and low crime areas. It usually comes with a 1/2 “shackle that is resistant to hand tools and it has a bent foot design. It comes with a reinforced collar and a disc style cylinder and it can run about $40. A moderate lock is for use in moderate to high crime areas, and it comes with a 9/16″ hardened steel shackle, and it is resistant to leverage and cutting. It has reinforced cylinders, anti-drill and anti-pull mechanisms, and it has a design that protects it against twisting attacks. It also has a double dead bolt locking system. This model can run about $65.

A strong security Bike U Lock is used for high crime areas and it comes with a 5/8″ maximum preferred steel shackle. It is resistant to leverage and bolt cutter attacks and it comes with a vinyl coating for protection. It also has a double dead bolt lock, and it can cost about $80. The ultimate lock is used for some of the most high crime areas in the largest cities. It comes with granite, parabolic square section that is hardened steel. This protects against cropping and twisting attacks. It has a power cell double lock mechanism and it can cost about $110.

The Bike U Lock is a much needed device for any biker who wants to protect his property, especially if he lives in a high crime area. Most of the locks come with several keys and highlighted areas on the lock where the keys can be hidden. This lock comes in many different security levels, so it is easy to find the one that best fits your situation. Also the cost of these locks is very minimal considering the fact that they are protecting something very valuable, your transportation. Being safe and protecting ones property is natural for anyone and the best way to do it is to use the most effective bike locks on the market today.

Boxing training can be a great way to socialise, exercise, maintain and improve your fitness levels.
Having the right kind of equipment is essential.

Boxing gloves come in a variety of sizes, materials and colours.

Leather gloves are recommended for training, although leather may cost a little extra, they will last longer. For fitness classes, this may not be an issue, but for punching the heavy bag, focus pads and even sparring it is more important.

For professional boxing, you will see gloves tied on with laces, this provides a snug fit for the boxers. For training purposes in the gym, Velcro wrist straps are more popular as you can easily put the gloves on and remove them yourself, with laced boxing gloves, you will need someone around to put them on and take them off.

Having the right size gloves is also important.
Boxing gloves come in small, medium and large sizes. The average man will need a large size and the average woman a medium. The weight of boxing gloves range from 10 - 20 ounces, children boxing gloves range from 4 - 8 ounces.

The heavier the glove, the more protection it offers. Beginners are recommended to use 12oz 14oz or 16oz gloves.
For sparring purposes, 16oz gloves are standard.
In a professional boxing match, the fighters usually wear 10oz gloves.

When training, always wear hand-wraps to provide extra protection for your knuckles, wrists and the small bones in your hand.

Never use worn out gloves, try to change your boxing gloves at the first signs of wear.

And finally,

ENJOY YOUR TRAINING!

Quality boxing gloves can be found at http://www.ukboxingstore.co.uk.

The family that bikes together, stays together.

Whether you’re going on a trip by yourself or with your family, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t bring your bicycles along with you, and every reason why you should.

Why should I bring my bike when I could probably rent one wherever I go, you’ll be asking yourself.

Because bicycles that are offered for rent are often not of the best quality. They’re usually ‘beaters’ - just something on two wheels for people to get around. And if you’re used to your own bike you won’t enjoy tooling around on something of lesser quality.

There’s no room for a bike in my car with all my luggage, you’ll say next.

This is not a problem either. Invest in a roof bike rack. No need to worry that there’s no room for your bikes - just put them on top of your car in the rack. It may look odd to drive around with bikes standing on top of your car, but it’s aerodynamic, and the bikes are safer than they would be if they were in a rack at the back of your car, where a careless motorist could bump into them.

Another reason to bring your bikes with you on any trip is you’ll save the cost of renting bikes at your destination. Not only will these rental bikes not be very good, but they’ll cost everyone a daily fee, which you could better use to spend on food or souvenirs.

Roof Bike Racks Are Suitable for Near Trips as Well as Far

Even if you don’t plan on taking trips to distant places, a roof bike rack is still the way to go. No more having to take off the wheels to get the bike to fit in your trunk. No more worrying whether grease or dirt will stain the car’s interior. Just put the bike on the roof and away you go.

There are several brands of roof bike racks. Each one does require the installation of a multi-purpose roof rack “base system” which remains on top of your car even when you take the bikes off. However, since the rack base system is multi-purpose, you’ll also be able to carry not only bikes but skis, snowboards, canoes, and even cargo boxes.

Every bike rack system has issues that you need to be aware of. For the roof rack, the important thing to remember that you actually have something tall strapped to the top of your car. You’ll have no problem going through tunnels, but if you have access to a garage, make sure the garage door is fully open before you try to drive in!

Hi, Bob with Knives Town here. I’d like to do a review for you today on a knife that has become an icon in the knife world. I’m talking about The Swiss Army knife, the Victorinox knife. This is made by a company that has been in business for over 100 years, they’ve been producing these kind of knives since 1897, so they are indeed the original multi tool. The knife comes in a sleek silver box like this, this particular model that I’m looking at is the Swiss Champ, one of the higher-end models in the Swiss Army knife line. I believe personally it’s the best value for the money, it gives you the most tools for the money.

The knife comes with a pamphlet, that shows all of the different tools, and implements that are available in the knife and further information and warranty and care of the knife and so forth. The Knife comes in the box with a plastic cut-out to prevent it from rolling around during shipping. The knife is 3 and half inches wide, and it’s a very descent weight. It’s got 33 tools on it, so I’ll try to move quickly here.

Starting at this end here with the blade portions. It’s got a pen blade, that the smaller blade, for your small chores. And then we’ve got the large blade, which is about 3 inches long, and that’s your main blade. The steel that’s used by the Victorinox is a very high grade stainless mirror polished, and it reminds me of the true-sharp surgical steel that Case uses on their knives, if you’re familiar with that, very similar to that.

Why is treadmill the most popular exercise equipment? Statistics prove that treadmills are the most admired gym equipment which is also used for home exercise. Why do most people prefer only treadmills? What does this equipment offer that others can not?

A treadmill offers two sets of exercise i.e. running and walking. Both these exercises are required to stay fit and healthy. These are such natural form of exercise, which every individual should follow on a regular basis. City traffic and lack of space has become a hindrance in the way of these exercises. Therefore, a treadmill can let you have the benefit of this natural exercise with the help of a mechanical instrument. Did you know that a treadmill burns more calories than any other equipment? You can compare this workout with any other natural workout routine like rowing a boat, working out with the help of a stationary cycle, riding a moving cycle or climbing a stair case. A tread mill is far more effective than these exercises. If you want to burn calories and lose some weight, treadmill is the instrument for you.

Treadmill is comfortable exercise equipment. It can be easily installed and maintained at home. You can reduce your regular gym expenses with the help of a treadmill. Regular walk can keep you fit through out. Running on a treadmill can help you reduce weight and tone your body. You can play your favorite music and run on a treadmill without even feeling the pain of your workout session. Using a treadmill is pure fun. A treadmill is quite safe to use and you do not have to worry about any injuries. Treadmills also acquaint you with the effective distance covered and the calorie calculation. This way, you can have a reasonable plan of your ingestion and consumption of calories.

In an ATV race, winning is important, staying focused is too…but more importantly, safety is the MOST important fact to remember. However, there is a small margin of error whereby sometimes our impulsiveness and need to win will take over our brains for a while and it could be that defining moment that we make a judgment that is wrong. With said that, we strongly encourage all ATV riders to always, always, ALWAYS use high quality ATV gears, like the Thor MX Gear. Never for one moment, take your life for granted, irregardless of how much we wish we would ride without an ATV helmet or without our jerseys and protective gear.

Most ATV Gears today are made of durable quality and they come in many different varieties of designs and options and is extremely affordable too. Realizing the importance of safety in the world of ATV riding and with the ever increasing number of riders in the world, many ATV accessories companies have expanded their ATV gear line over the past few years. Now leading ATV gear companies offer many designs and options for men, women, children and home accessories as well.

Among all of the ATV gears, we think that ATV enthusiasts should at least own a ATV helmet and make it a point to wear the helmet whenever they are on the ATV. It shouldn’t matter if the ride is only for 5 minutes or 5 hours. As long as you’re getting on the ATV, you have to have your ATV Helmet on. Although not all states in the US enforce this rule, we should make it a point to put on our ATV helmet for the sake of our own safety.

We cannot place more importance of encouraging young ATV riders to wear their ATV gear and helmet whenever they ride their ATV. But it would work better if you wore it too – this would make it easier for them to keep to this rule.

If you don’t already have ATV gear, why not hop on over and check some of the ATV gear we have in store for you?

Outdoor patio furniture can define a new outdoor living space and provide you with quality outdoor time this season. Outdoor patio furniture comes as individual pieces and as complete sets. The material that the furniture is made from varies from plastic resins to teak and cedar. Key characteristics of outdoor furniture materials are durable and how hard it is to keep them clean. As you will see there are many choices available.

One of the most important components to a great outdoor living space is an outdoor patio dining set. The basic dining set consists of a dining table and chairs and more elaborate sets might add an umbrella that fits into the center of the table. Dining arrangements usually consist of 4, 6 or 8 chairs. You need to make sure the dining set fits your area so that you still have the ability to move around and enjoy the perimeter spaces. Smaller dining arrangements can be had with bistro sets which are 3 person tables and chairs that are usually elevated like bar stools.

Another good patio furniture set is a conversation set. These sets are all about casual seating and they are usually anchored with a two person love seat. Along with the love seat will come a pair of chairs and a center coffee table. Some sets will also include a side table or two that are height matched for the chairs. Supporting the comfy seating goals, cushions come with many sets and they make for a great opportunity to add additional style and color to your patio area.

A bar table and chairs are another option for supporting a dining and casual seating arrangement. These are smaller tables and chairs raised up to bar height and they create an intimate sitting arrangement. Another option is to get a full on bar unit that can be used as a mini-kitchen with a refrigerator and other beverage preparation options. Bar sets of this kind also come with bar stools that match the height of the counter top of the main bar unit.

Garden benches are another popular choice and the work well at the perimeter of your patio area or just about anywhere in your yard. Garden benches come in many different styles and materials but wood benches are some of the most popular. Teak wood garden benches have a very appealing look to them and they come in many different styles. You can also find benches build into other units such as arbors. A bench with storage for patio items may be a good choice as well.

Once you have an idea of the type of furniture you want, it is time to think about the type of material that the furniture is made from. Natural materials include wicker made from canes or switches and wood such as teak, cypress or cedar. Super strong and durable options include wrought iron and cast aluminum. Less expensive options, and often less durable, include plastic resin and thin walled aluminum tubing. Each of these options has their own style so it is important to choose the right type to match the rest of your home’s style.

Yes there are many options when it comes to choosing patio furniture. Start with choosing the types of furniture piece that you want, them move into balancing material versus costs to meet your style and budget goals. With just a little bit of research you should end up with patio furniture that will work well for you for many seasons.

Of course, all of the best of these unique creations are handmade and finding th best of the latest handmade earrings on line does require a little know how.

This is because, the last thing that you want is to pay for some handmade earrings online and have some cheap pieces of junk arrive at your door that are anything but handmade. Tip number one is to never buy anything online unless you have seen a crystal clear picture of it with an accurate description of the jewelry piece.

If the pictures are fuzzy and don’t show the item or items clearly then move along to another website. Make sure to check the websites feedback as well. One good tip is to study up on your gemstone before you go shopping for handmade earrings that feature gemstones. This is because, the people that you will be buying from surly have and know their product well.

There are several factors that come into play when determining the actual value of various gemstones, so you should become familiar with them. One thing that you may consider when shopping for handmade earrings is that all top jewelry designers product is entirely handmade.

Although so much of what they offer can be somewhat costly, depending on the piece, there always is the option of shopping for designer “inspired” handmade earrings that always will be cheaper to procure. One other great idea to consider, is to visit some jewelry related chat rooms and talk to some like minded people that have already done some jewelry shopping online thsat can help to point you in the right direction.

Hair conditioner is product that is supposed to improve the texture and appearance of human hair. Hair conditioners, unlike shampoos, bind to the hair and do not completely wash out in order to give the hair the desired appearance. Most people use this product because your hair is one thing you do not want squeaky clean. The real function of a good hair conditioner is to treat the hair after shampooing and help tame it for the next grooming process; combing, drying, curling, straightening etc.

Conditioners, similar to shampoos, come in various forms. Again you can find products specific to the result you are looking for. Although the original purpose of hair conditioners was to just help detangle clean hair, you can now get one that will solve one of the many problems you may have. Do you need a moisturizer? reconstructer? detangler? glosser? thermal protector? Do you have coarse? super curly? very dry? very fine? thinning? frizzy? or colored? hair. There is a product out there for you! Just remember the conditioner is leaving product on your hair, whether it is a lot for dry hair or light for fine hair, to give it the appearance of luster and gloss.

If you have curly, coarse, dry or damaged hair, try to condition every time you shampoo or wet your hair. Obviously a moisturizing conditioner would be best for you. You may also want to consider deep conditioners. Fine or limp hair can actually do without any conditioner. You may just need a detangler if that is your problem. If you do use a conditioner be sure to apply it only to the ends to mid shaft of your hair. This will prevent a greasy oily look you want to avoid.

Tips

- For best results, apply hair conditioner to wet hair after you have squeezed out most of the water.

- Take some conditioner in your hands and work it through your hair. For normal hair start half way up the shaft and pull through to the ends. For a dry scalp or very dry and damaged hair use it on the entire length of your hair including the scalp.

- Rinse out conditioner with cool, not warm or hot, water to get a shiny mane.

- Cover your hair with conditioner right before a swim to protect it from the harsh pool chemicals.

Nobody wants to be taking a shower or a bath, cleaning themselves up, only to look up and see a dirty, scummy shower curtain. Unfortunately, your shower curtain is going to get dirty. Being in such damp conditions and with such soap scum build up – well, you’re going to have a dirty shower curtain on your hands. Luckily, there are some things that you can do to clean up your shower curtain.

You can wash your shower curtain in your basic everyday clothes washer. Just use about 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of bleach. Then add white towels and a regular amount of your normal laundry detergent and run the machine. Also use some liquid fabric softener. Do not run your machine on hot – plastic shower curtains could melt.

When you’re done washing your shower curtain, do not place it in the dryer (again, it could melt). Instead, simply hang it up in its regular place on the shower rod and let it drip dry.

No matter what your shower curtain is made out of, fabric, vinyl, or plastic, you can stick it in the washing machine with a cup of baking soda instead of bleach and vinegar. It is also a good idea to read the label on your shower curtain to check for any warnings or suggestions.

If you soak your shower curtain in salt water, it will prevent mildew (although, it could leave small crystals on your curtain if you use too much salt). Before hanging shower curtains, soak in vinegar or salt water solutions to prevent mold and mildew. To remove mold and mildew, wash in hot soapy water with a little bit of bleach. For plastic curtains, clean with laundry pre-wash spray. Spray along the top, letting it run down to cover the curtain. Allow it to sit for a few minutes, then rinse it off.

An important aspect of an enjoyable camping experience is having the right family tent. Camping is one of the most fun outdoor activities, but using the wrong tent can dampen the whole experience.

There are some questions that you should ask yourself in order to ensure that you choose the perfect tent for both you and your family.

First of all, a basic but important question to answer is how many people will be using the tent? This will determine the right style and size that you need.

You might even want to consider buying a tent slightly bigger than what you need. For example, if you need a tent for 5, consider buying a 6 person tent. That way you should have plenty of room for everyone.

What kind of conditions should the tent be able to handle? Will you be camping in the summer? Spring and summer? Or will you camp year round? You want to purchase a tent that can handle the various conditions you’re likely to encounter.

There are family camping tents made mostly for fair weather and there are 3 or 4 season family tents.

How often will the tent be used? You want a durable family tent if you’re planning on camping frequently. If you’re camping with very active children, you definitely want a durable tent!

How much interior space do you want or need? If you want to be comfortable, you need to take sleeping space and storage into account. Do you want standing room? Consider buying a family dome tent.

Will you be hiking or backpacking? You should look for a lightweight tent that you can easily transport.

Shapes And Styles

Family camping tents are available in different shapes and can be small enough for 3 and large enough to hold 10+.

Family Cabin Tents

Cabin tents can be sectioned off to create two or more rooms and usually allow multiple entry and exit points.

Dome Style Family Tents

The rounded shape of a family dome tent adds strength, good wind resistance and good interior space.

A-Frame Style Tents

A-frame tents have a simple, lightweight design. They’re usually freestanding and easy to set up. There’s good room at the floor but less room up top for standing.

Umbrella Style Tents

Umbrella style tents have spacious head and floor space, can hold many people, and have good ventilation.

Different Season Tents

There are 2, 3 and 4 season family camping tents.

Two season tents are fair weather tents that are usually very inexpensive.

Three season tents are the most popular and are able to handle rain.

Four season tents have heavier construction to fight off wind stress and snow loads. They’re made of higher grade fabrics and contain more poles for added strength.

Four season tents can possibly feel hot and heavy if used in moderate weather.

Shop from a variety of family tents - you’ll find smaller 3 person tents and larger 7+ person tents

I am an amateur cook, I say that because I don’t work as a cook for a living but I have been cooking for over 30 years. There are certain tools that every cook should have in their kitchen to be able to properly cook gourmet meals. First off you need to have good quality cutlery in order to be able to cut the meats and vegetables for your cooking needs. The number one item on this list of cutlery needs is a good quality chef’s knife that will probably cost you as much as seventy dollars.

Secondly you will need a couple of good cutting boards so that you aren’t chopping up your counter tops. I suggest two cutting boards because I use one for meats and one for vegetables. I like to keep them separate. You can make many choices here from cheap to higher quality, but if you want the cutting board to last you awhile I suggest that you invest a little more in a higher quality board. There are many different sizes to choose from as well and you can get one large enough to span your entire sink or one that sits on the counter, I like having one of each. As far as whether to go with wood or plastic, it is more a personal preference really but plastic will cause your knives to become dull quicker. Regardless of whether you choose a wood or plastic cutting board you will need a knife sharpener.

If you are already a great gourmet cook or are intent in becoming one you will also want some specialty knives such as Filet Knives, Carving Knives, Paring Knives, Cleavers, and possible a Bagel Cutter. You will also want Whisks for mixing, Tongs for pulling items out of hot pots or off of the grill as well as Pasta Tongs for handling pasta dishes. Of course, you will also need a variety of large spoons and ladles for soups, gumbos, and gravies.

Next we need to take a look at cookware so that you have a place to put all those items you are chopping up on your new cutting boards. The best way to go here to save money is to buy the pots and pans in sets. If you buy them one by one you will spend a fortune. One thing that is an absolute must have is a sauté pan. This is used in almost every meal I prepare and I suggest that you make sure you have one that is high quality. For the most usefulness and flexibility choose a medium size one.

Next you need a large soup pot or gumbo pot as I call it. Most people call them soup pots but they can be used for pasta, chili, and more. This is one of the most well used pots you will have in your kitchen so don’t be afraid to invest a little here to get a quality one that will last a long time. Just remember you don’t have to get everything you need at once, you can add more items gradually.
